I want to tell you a little bit about The Green Book, the final book in the trilogy that includes The Blue Book and The Yellow Book. This was the book that I worked on while I was a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library. It will be published by HarperCollins India in November. The chapters include the following: “Trees”; “On Notebooks”; “Postcards from the Ganga”; “Many Words for Heat, Many Words for Hate”; “The Green Album”; “The Nature of War”; “Rules of Writing”; “Writing a Novel with Pictures”; “Green: An Unripe Time”; “Saffron and Green”; “All That Breathes”; “Prison Green”; “Nature Writing”; “Don’t Stop Walking"; “That was January, This is June.” (My friends at Brick magazine are publishing my drawings and diary entries from “Postcards from the Ganga” in their next issue.)
To whip up interest in The Green Book (and in the trilogy) as a whole here is a snippet from my journals that appears on p. 222 of the forthcoming book—an exchange with the queen of the universe, Zadie Smith:
October, 2022. From The Green Book. On a page with Maya Angelou’s poetry, The Bookshop Inc. annual calendar.
I wish you would come back to your old U of MN stomping grounds in the Twin Cities, MN!
